About ATL96
Atlanta 1996 (ATL96), formerly the DeKalb International Training Center, is the legacy institution of the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. The Center provided elite training for athletes preparing for the Olympic Games. It also supported athletes academically by connecting them with high school, college, and university opportunities. Since June 2002, more than 2,000 athletes from 53 nations have trained and competed through the program.
Challenge
ATL96 needed a cohesive and professional visual identity to support its mission as a global Olympic legacy institution. The organization required branding and marketing materials that would:
- Reflect its international credibility and Olympic heritage
- Attract elite athletes and global partners
- Communicate its dual focus on athletic excellence and academic advancement
- Present a consistent presence at international events and Olympic venues
Role
Since 2005, I have led the visual communication and brand development efforts for ATL96. My work has included:
- Logo design and brand development
- Marketing materials and promotional collateral
- Website redesign in partnership with a web developer
- Presentation design to support fundraising and partnership outreach
- Event programs for the International Prep Classic held at Georgia Tech
- Retractable banners used at multiple Olympic Games, including Torino 2006, Beijing 2008, and London 2012
Outcome
The cohesive visual system supported athlete recruitment, partnership development, and fundraising efforts while honoring Atlanta’s Olympic legacy on the world stage.
